Framing Life: My Story Behind the Lens
Art and creativity have been at the core of my life from an early age. My mother, an accomplished artist, creates stunning oil-on-canvas works that have been cherished in numerous homes. Growing up, I had the privilege of witnessing her artistic process—the moods, ideas, and style that shaped her creations. Her paintings were always accompanied by music, as she listened to it while working, creating a rhythm that brought her art to life. This constant blend of sound and creativity fostered my deep appreciation for artistic expression and the creative process in all its forms.
My father, a renowned civil engineer in Iran, brought structure and precision to my life. He often took me to construction sites and involved me in the building of various projects, including our home. Through him, I learned the value of attention to detail and the importance of logical thinking. These contrasting yet complementary influences—art and engineering—have shaped who I am today: an architect by profession and a photographer by passion.
My journey into photography began in 2004 with a Canon PowerShot A95. What started as curiosity quickly grew into a passion, leading me to explore the world of DSLRs and lenses. For me, photography goes far beyond capturing images. It’s a thoughtful interplay of composition, colour, perspective, focus, light, shadow, texture, and so much more. Each element plays a crucial role in transforming a moment into a story, and I approach every shot with care and intention to create something truly compelling.
As technology evolved, so did my approach to photography. I embraced the challenge of shooting and editing exclusively on my phone, using only its native apps—avoiding heavy edits or Photoshop. This self-imposed limitation has fueled my creativity, pushing me to focus on the essence of each moment. My photos are raw, authentic snapshots of life as it unfolds—captured without artificial lights, props, or elaborate setups.
Today, I’m thrilled to share these moments with others. I believe art should evoke emotion and connect with people, whether displayed in a home or a workplace. Through my photography, I strive to inspire a deeper appreciation for the beauty hidden in everyday simplicity.
